Christmas 2009

Christmas is always my favorite time of year! We enjoyed spending time together as a family and making memories. With having a five year old our home still, the magical feeling still was present and it is always fun to see the girls reaction as well. We slept in longer this year due to the fact we have teenagers in our home.

Christmas Eve was a great experience! We normally stay home and have our traditional steak and seafood dinner, but this year we had the Trejo Christmas Party and we also were able to visit my parents and exchange gifts. We were able to spend awhile alone with them, unwrapping presents, reminiscing, eating and seeing other family members. How grateful I am that the Lord has granted our Father to be with us another wonderful year.

We gave mom and dad a webcam for Christmas. This was such a hit! Rob took a few minutes to get it set up and we were able to call my brother, Paul who is serving in the Army and is stationed in Korea and most of my family was able to visit with him all that evening.

We are so blessed to live close to family and to make memories!

Celebrating the New Year In Island Park

Our family had the opportunity to go to Island Park and stay in a friends cabin over New Year's. We had such an amazing time as a family! We were able to spend a little bit of time with Rob's parents, who came up Thursday night and stayed until Saturday morning. This little vacation was just what our family needed!

Kaitlyn's Dance Competitions 2009

What an amazing experience Kaitlyn has had this year dancing with the Downtown Dance Showteam. She has been on the Beginning Show Team and has loved every minute of it. Kaitlyn is a very good dancer and as her Instructor, Amy told me a year a go, "Kaitlyn is a natural!" She couldn't believe that she had danced for more than that year. I want to thank Amy Mow for being such an amazing instructor! She has instilled discipline, perfection, and a love for the art of dance in her dancers. Amy pushes her dancers to become better and strives to be the very best they possibly can. Amy not only loves her dancers, but she considers them her friends.

We went to our first dance competition in Ogden, Utah on April 18th. Then next weekend, May 25th we were in Draper, Utah and then the last competition was May 2nd in Idaho Falls. The Utah Competitions were spent with my girls and a few of their friends. We had a blast spend some time together. We went shopping, ate at Cafe Rio, and sat for hours watching the competitions. These are memories that will always be remembered.

The Downtown Dance Show Team did very well! They are so much fun to watch! The hours and hours of practice, have indeed paid off. They are really in a league of their own!

This weekend is the year end SHOWCASE RECITAL at Blackfoot High School. This Friday and Saturday night and will not only involved the Show Team, but also the level classes that are part of Downtown Dance here in Blackfoot.

This experience Kaitlyn has had participating on the Show Team has exceeded by far any expectation that I had. I so appreciate Amy for standing her ground and maintaining the high standards we all have. She will not dress our girls in immodest outfits, nor will she incorporate suggestive dance moves in any of her dances. Another thing that I thought was way awesome was that she prays with her group of dancers before they go out onto the floor to perform at the competitions. I am very grateful that my daughter has such a great example. Amy, thank you for all that you have done for my daughter, Kaitlyn.

Our Baby, Carson Celebrates his 5th Birthday!

Where has time gone? I can't believe Carson is 5 years old. We were so excited to get in a boy in our family and have enjoyed Carson so much! He is a boy through and through! He is a very happy, loving, tender hearted boy! He loves to build things, play with his puppy Tyke, play with his friends, play with his cars and trucks and the list goes on and on. He is a momma's boy! Recently I returned from work after a very long 11 1/2 hour day. Carson came running up stairs and ask me where I had been because he was worried about me! Oh so sweet! He is such a special boy who has really become aware of others feeling and is quick to apologize and make things better. Carson loves to spend time with his Dad! He is his little shadow, building, working around the house doing projects, going fishing, watching movies, you name it Carson and Daddy are best buds. Carson and his sisters are such great friends! He loves his sisters so much and likewise his sisters love him. They take extra good care of. They and are so cute to watch how they interact with each other. Carson, I love you! You are amazing boy, who is growing up so fast! Thank you for bringing so much joy into our family. We love you!

Amanda, Brianne, and Kaitlyn picked Carson up front Daycare and took him to Rupe's to get a shake and fries. Mom met them there to give Carson a hug and ran home to get ready for the barbeque we were having with Grandma & Grandpa Smith and Grandma & Grandpa Trejo. We grilled hamburgers and had a wonderful time. Carson wanted brownies and ice cream instead of a birthday cake.

We were so grateful that Grandpa Smith felt well enough to come and enjoy the beautiful evening. He had a big day and was tired but he didn't want to miss Carson's Birthday! We love you!

Family Vacation to California-Spring Break 2009

Our Family Vacation to California was amazing! We had such a wonderful time together and were blessed to have Grandma and Grandpa Trejo go with us. We were able to go to Sea World for a day, we spend 2 1/2 days at Disneyland/California Adventures, and then spent 2 days in Avila Beach/San Luis Obispo with Grandma Hawthorne, and Aunt Barbara & Uncle Roger. We went to Avila Beach & Morrow Bay and spent time at the beach. The kids had fun collecting sea shells! What a memorable trip! We loved every moment and made so many fun memories. The one regret we had was that we felt like we should have spent more time with Grandma. Grandma is 94 years old and still going strong. She is incredible! She is so witty and full of life! I am so grateful that our kids were able to go spend time with her and get to know her a little. FAMILY, THANK YOUR FOR MAKING OUR FAMILY VACATION SO WONDERFUL. I LOVE YOU!

I LOVE YOU, DAD

My Dad has been on my mind a great deal lately because he has been so ill. It has been 4 years since he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He has done well with this horrible disease, however as time has gone on his poor body is taking a terrible beating! In September of 2007 he found out that the cancer had gone to his bones and he was experiencing a lot of pain. With pain medication he has been able to keep a handle on the pain. In September 2008 he started to experience more difficulties, needing more care than he has ever needed before. Since the first of the year he has been hospitalized twice. He is slowly regaining his strength which is so wonderful! Keep up the great work Dad!

It is so hard to see him need so much care! We all love him so much and we will do anything for him, but it just brings tears to my eyes to see him suffer so bad. My heart breaks to see him this way!

Dad has always had a great attitude and outlook on life. He is a great man! He is a wonderful Spouse, Father and Grandfather. Thank you for all that you do for me, Dad! I am so blessed to have such an amazing Father!

Love,
Your Daughter, Kris

Great Job, Amanda!

I want to recognize our daughter Amanda for doing so well at the Eagle, Idaho Debate Tournament this weekend. She is now in her second year of debate and does a great job! She and her debate partner won 4 out of 5 rounds this weekend and the one they lost was by one speaker point. GREAT JOB, Amanda!

It amazes me the skills that she is learning! She has learned so many valuable skills that she will be able to use the rest of her life. Maybe she will decide she wants to become a Lawyer, although at this point in the game she is very interested in Dermatology.

Thanks to Mrs. Clawson, Blackfoot High School Debate Teacher/Coach who has challenged Amanda to try new things and stick with debate. She was so close to giving it up when her best friend, Lucy passed away in August, considering that she was going to be Amanda's debate partner.

Keep up the great work, Amanda! The many hours of time that you spend will most certainly pay off in the long run. You will be glad that you stayed focused and stuck with it even though it isn't easy.

I love you, Amanda!

Love, MOM
