WIND RIVERS BACKPACKING TRIP

Rob, Brianne, Amanda, Grandpa Trejo, Uncle Matt and Cousin Sam backpacked into the Wind Rivers in Wyoming August 30 in 80 degree weather and hiked out on September 1st in a snowstorm. This was an amazing experience for the girls to spend some time with their dad and also with their grandpa, uncle and cousin. The hike was approximately 5 miles in and then back out again. Rob spent a lot of time preparing for this trip and making sure that everything was ready to go. It is wonderful to have a husband who loves his children so much that he wants to spend extra special time with them. This will be a memory that will last a lifetime!
Eastern Idaho State Fair Parade

August 30th, Kaitlyn participated in the Eastern Idaho Fair Parade with her Dance Team, Downtown Dance Company. Kaitlyn is one of the 99 girls that are on the showteam. Downtown Dance won 1st place in the Dance Division of the parade. Way to go! Amy Mow, you are amazing! Carson & Mom were waiting patiently to cheer on Kaitlyn. Grandma Smith, my neice, Kaisha and her girls and my friend Michelle and her daughter Sydni met us along the parade route and we enjoyed the parade.

LEONARD & NORMA NELSON REUNION- ISLAND PARK 2008

Then Nelson Reunion was wonderful! It was awesome to get together! It had been far too long since we have had such a big Nelson Family get together. We met in Island Park and spent the weekend over July 18-20. 81 members of the Nelson Family were there. We spent a lot of time in the 2 condo style cabins which were joined. On saturday, about 30 of us rented rafts and floated the Henry's Fork River. Uncle Doug took several people out on the Island Park Resevoir boating .We ate lots and lots! This is what the Nelson's do best! We were able to visit and catch up and most of all enjoy each other's company. I couldn't help but think about Grandma and Grandpa Nelson and the incredible legacy that they started almost 70 years ago. We are very blessed to have such amazing ancestors. I miss you Grandma and Grandpa!

West Piney Girls Camp 2008-MISSION POSSIBLE LOVE THE GOSPEL

Girls Camp was such an amazing experience! The highlight of girls camp for me was spending all week with Amanda and Brianne. We had so much fun! The many experiences that we had are so memorable! We laughed and we cried! The skit that we did was amazing and we received 1st place. Amanda's friend Ashley and my neice were able to attend. Amanda was able to have a hands on MISSIONARY experience with Ashley who is Methodist. The girls in our ward are incredible! We had 15 girls who were in our ward camp and we had 8 YCL's who stayed with the Stake. They all got along so well. Thank you girls for the great examples you are to me! Remember who you are and what you stand for! You leaders are amazing! I love you so much! I learn so much from you.

FAMILY TIME....LAGOON & RAGING WATERS

Our family spent a couple of days making memories and enjoying some much needed time together. We went to Lagoon on Thursday July 31st and to Raging Waters on August 1st. Mom and the Girls went school shopping! We had a great time! We met our good friends, Reed and Lori Ward and kids and spent both days with them. It was good to catch up and enjoy the time we spent together.
(While at Lagoon, we receive bad news that Amanda's two close friends Hayley and Lucie were in a serious car accident and Hayley was hospitalized and Lucie was Life Flighted to Idaho Falls to EIRMC and she later passed away on Friday August 1st. To lose such a close friend is so tough especially at such a young age.)

She also has been taking ballet which is required when making the show team. Kaitlyn has a passion for dancing, so we are looking forward to this experience to dance with such an incredible dance company.
Starting back in March I started a part-time job at The Blackfoot Medical Clinic as a receptionist. I have loved it! During the school year Carson attends Daycare/Preschool. During the summer the girls have helped out tremendously, helping with chores around the house and also babysitting Carson. This has been an adjustment for them because they are used to having mom at home during the day. I usually only work a few hours a day. This has been working out well.
I will add pictures and blog as I get some uninterupted moments. You may be saying, "Ya, like that is going to happen!" It will happen!

CONGRATS AMANDA!

Last Friday and Saturday was Amanda's last debate tourny for the year, the Bronco Classic held at Blackfoot High School. As a nouvice freshman, she and her partner, Devin have worked very hard and on Saturday they were awarded a trophy for making semi-finals. There were 360 students who participated in the tournament and there were 16 high schools. Not bad for her first year participating in Debate! We are so proud of you, Amanda! Way to go!
Amanda's New Pet Snake, BIFF

Can I say holy snake! Those who know me very well understand how big a phobia of snakes I have. Amanda has always wanted a snake and for the longest time I wouldn't allow it, but last week something changed.... yes, we have a pet snake at our house! Call me crazy, finally Amanda got her wish. She and her friend ordered their corn snakes from a company in Texas. As long as BIFF stays in her cage or is held I am doing fine with the idea, but I am not sure how I will be when the snake reaches 4 feet long. Wow! What have I gotten myself into?

A Wonderful Experience!
On Sunday, February 10, 2008 my 3 daughters and I were able to attend the broadcast of the Rexburg Temple Dedication that was held at our stake center. The experience was wonderful! We attended the 4th session with President Russell M. Nelson presiding. Truthfully, I was a bit saddened that President Monson was not the one conducting, but too, I understand.) As I sat through this dedication, I contemplated how much this means for the Saints in Eastern Idaho. The spirit testified the truthfulness of the gospel to me! I am very grateful for these moments! Tears came to my eyes as we sung "The Spirit Of God Like A Fire Is Burning." I also thought of the great promise we have to be an eternal family. What a blessing! This experience will be one that I will always cherish and especially because I was able to attend with my 3 beautiful daughters.

Thomas S. Monson named 16th President of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

My heart is full today! With the recent passing of our beloved Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, I have been contemplating on the great things that I have learned from this dear man. My testimony is strengthened knowing that the church in constant and sure. President Monson is such a loving man! He loves the youth! I love the parables that he teaches. I know that President Monson, President Eyring, and President Uchtdorf have been called of God the Eternal Father. May we have the faith to move forward and stand strong in living the gospel.

CONGRATULATIONS, PAT!

Pat, you are amazing! Not an easy feat being a wife, a mom of 3 kids, fulfilling callings in your ward, and going to school full-time. You have inspired me to push myself even when it is hard! What an amazing transformation that has taken place in the course of these past 4 years. You are a changed women! You know that you can do anything! There were many times that you wanted to give up and throw the towel in, but you kept trudging along, one day at a time, until you accomplished your goal, a Bachelors Degree in Special Education! Congratulations on a job well done! I am so very proud of you, Pat!
I was able to attend Utah State University's Commencement in December to see my dear friend receive her diploma. What a wonderful experience it was to share this day with her!
